History

Natanja Christian School opened its doors in 1998 in a modest hostel building in the farming town of Ottosdal. The school was founded by Pierre and Sarie de Villiers, who were guided by a vision to establish a Christian school where children could grow in knowledge, faith, character, and purpose. The name "Natanja", meaning “Gift from God", reflected their belief that the school was a blessing from God to the community. The school began with six learners, including their own children, Phil and Annatjie de Villiers, together with four other learners whose families desired a Christ-centred education. Despite limited facilities and resources, the founders moved forward with faith, prayer, and determination, laying the foundation for what would become a lasting legacy in Christian education. Over the years, Natanja Christian School grew into a place where Scripture guided learning, teachers viewed their work as ministry, and learners were encouraged to discover and develop their God-given gifts. What started as a small school with humble beginnings became a spiritual home for generations of learners and families, standing as a testimony to God's faithfulness and provision.

The aim of Natanja Christian School is to provide Christ-centred education where learners can grow in knowledge, faith, character, and purpose. Scripture guides learning, and teachers view their work as a ministry, encouraging every learner to discover and develop the unique gifts God has placed within them. A strong Christian foundation, built on faith, prayer, compassion, and perseverance, remains at the heart of the school. The school began in 1998 in a modest hostel building in Ottosdal. Although the facilities were humble, the founders, Pierre and Sarie de Villiers, together with a small group of learners and families, believed that God could use small beginnings to accomplish great things. From those early days, the school grew steadily, becoming a spiritual home where learning, worship, and Christian values were woven together. In 2011, through the generosity of Assore Mining Group and the faithful leadership of Principal Henlize Winter, the school experienced a remarkable expansion. New facilities included modern classrooms, a school hall, sports facilities, swimming pools, a lecture centre, and a training centre, enabling Natanja to offer education from pre-school through Grade 12. The Lord has remained faithful throughout every season of the school's history. Through periods of growth, challenge, restoration, and renewal, Natanja Christian School continues to stand as a testimony to God's provision, faithfulness, and purpose. Today, the school remains committed to shaping future generations through Christian education, spiritual growth, and excellence, always giving glory to God.
